I'm speculating but perhaps Uhura wants to play rough! LOL.
I don't remember Spock ever being interested in Uhura, but what the hey! Chekov's hair wasn't blonde, either. An interesting blip on the what-ifs though. LOL!
The timeline changed when Star Trek 2009 hit the cinemas. Your right of course Karen, Spock was always defending logic and would never have behaved this way in the original series. Its a fair bet Chekov's having a bad hair day, hehe.
