HAPPY NEW YEAR TREKKERS

Happy New Year Trekkers!  It was Isaac Asimov who created "positronic" used in conjunction with so many other words for example positronic supercomputer, positronic robot, positronic brain and of course the android, Star Treks Mr Data, but I wonder which came first?

The word or the android?

POSITRONIC OR ANDROID? What do you think?

I believe android showed up in a book years before Asimov.
Happy 2019!

A very Happy New Year to you and yours.

My guess would be android, but I wouldn't be surprised if I was wrong.

Android is an old word although positronic created by Isaac Asimov ranks high on the list too because of his 38 sci-fi short stories and five novels featuring positronic robots. Watch out guys for the ones with robots who do not want to obey Asimovs three laws of Robotics! These are classic fun reads!

I never gave much thought to Asimov's legacy in regards to Trek. His influence on Star Wars and Firefly is more obvious, I think - the Foundation novels, in those cases. But positronic - there it is.

The Three Laws and the Prime Directive are certainly two of the greatest literary devices in SciFi.

Obviously the chicken came first. You can't have an egg without anything to lay it.

Happy New Year
I'm not a particularly huge fan of the films. I do enjoy the TV character-based story telling much more. TOS is by far my favorite.

That said my friend, I broke down and finally bought Discovery on Blu Ray rolling the dice.
Given this information
Do you think I will enjoy the series or be disappointed?
Always enjoy your posts.
