QUENTIN TARANTINO'S STAR TREK FILM

Finally June 2019 is here, deadline reports world famous Star Trek fan, Quentin Tarantino is pitching his idea for a new Star Trek film and guess what my trekker friends? Paramount loves it! Well why wouldn't they? with Q.T. record, Star Trek's sleeper franchise will burst into life!. Word is Tarantino and J.J.Abrams are in talks about Q.T's "idea."

Simon Pegg, some say, reckons..... "That idea is going into the writer's room to be looked at. I think it might take something like him to restart it."  Tarantino wants the film to be R rated, so its a safe guess the crew of the USS Enterprise NCC 1701 are gearing up for some hysterical, homicidal trekamania. What could be so wrong with exploring new territory with a splash of red boldly going where no satirist has gone before?....Sounds so right doesn't it?

KEENSER AND SCOTTY

So now Tarantino is in talks to explore Star Trek 4 with the studio. While nothing is set in stone, the plot is still unknown. Tarantino has already met with producer J.J. Abrams about his Star Trek idea, as well as with a writers room. Tarantino also apparently revealed that a script has been written according to Empire Magazine. Deadline previously reported that Mark L. Smith (The Revenant) was set to pen the script.

Lindsey Beer (Chaos Walking) and Drew Pearce (Iron Man 3) were also in the running to write the film and met with Tarantino in late 2017 to discuss story ideas. In January, Paramount motion-picture group president Wyck Godfrey spoke to the New York Times about the plans for the movie studio. His comments made it sound like Tarantino's Star Trek is a priority for the studio.

So now what? (Simon Pegg's question is:) I don't know if that means everybody will be blowing each other's heads off with phasers and calling Klingons mother f*****s, but, who knows? That could be fun."

Who do you think will be the futures new female characters and evil villains? Will Keenser, Scottys sidekick return? Do you want to see R rated Star Trek movies?

While I think Tarantino will make an interesting Star Trek movie, I think it would be dangerous to make it R rated. Trek movies never make big, big bucks and I think making the next one R it will cut into an already low profit.

I'm still a little bit nervous about this, but given that Tarantino is such a big fan of Star Trek, there's reason to hope.

How many Star Trek fans are there in the world Diane? One, two million? or more? So what’s Paramount going to do to satisfy these hungry trekkers? Keep playing it safe with more Federation rhetoric will only bore fans to death, just look at the numbers. What we need is hell fire and mayhem to get new fans and old hooked again

Yeah James, we’ve got to take chances, risk, hope, danger is all part of the human x-factor seeking out new life in the universe

I don't want to see an R rated Star Trek. It limits the audience too much, and I want more and younger people pulled into the franchise.

Well, just to add my two cents, it's safe to say CBS is reinventing the franchise a bit based on my experience watching Discovery and their willingness to go with such a wild card like QT.

I mean he may be a fan but he loves violence and extremes and well that would be new for Star Trek. I have to admit I really enjoyed the first season of Discovery but I can see where people are concerned with the direction of a franchise with an established formula. Clearly many have voiced their criticisms of Discovery here and elsewhere. I would imagine you should put on your seatbelt for a QT Star Trek. But I haven't loved the new wave of Pine films so I'm open to anything.

The question is how big a Star Trek fan is Tarantino? Because if he's a fan, then he'll keep things more in line with the franchise, and he might surprise us. It's interesting in concept. I'll have to know more before I offer an opinion.

A Star Tarantino? I don't know what it will be like, but I expect blood will spatter the screen at some point ... maybe I'm wrong. I'm up for Keensner, a female villain, and having at least one of the ladies do some of the stunt-action work along with Kirk, Spock, Scotty, and Bones.

One thing about Star Trek reboot #4 - it seems like it's getting built up by smoke and rumors - maybe that needs to be in the plot somewhere. I would really like to see their start date for production or know they've moved beyond the idea phase. I know that sounds impatient, but it seems like all the posts are what "might be."

Be interesting how they get around Chekov (Anton Yelchin) who died.

It'll be interesting to see what this movie turns out to be like.

I've loved the new Star Trek films. I'm not here for whatever Quentin is going to do to the franchise.

I'm just glad that this is still probably happening. I'll be happier when an actual movie is being filmed, though...
