Kirk and Bones go on a camping trip

HEY JIM........ WAKE UP D*M IT!
Captain Kirk and Bones go on a camping trip, set up their tent and fall asleep. Some hours later, Bones wakes his faithful friend.

"Jim, look up at the sky and tell your doctor what you see."

Kirk replies, "I see millions of stars."

"What does that tell you?"

Kirk ponders for a minute. "Astronomically speaking, it tells me that there are millions of galaxies and billions of planets. Astrologically, it tells me that Saturn is in Leo. Time wise, it appears to be approximately a quarter past three. Theologically, it's evident the Lord is all-powerful and we are small and insignificant. Meteorologically, it seems we will have a beautiful day tomorrow. What does it tell you?"

Bones is silent for a moment, then speaks."Jim, yeah you idiot, someone has stolen our tent."

Hahaha! Great joke. The camping scene is fun, too. I'll definitely be getting to film #5 soon.

Common sense is sadly rare.
Smiling at this joke though.

Theres good scientific data to be had here Diane for instance, we know billions of planets are out there second star to the left in millions of galaxies because Captain Kirk said so.

Yeah, so hilarious Squid. I wonder if the Enterprise ever tracked down whoever took off with the tent?

SpacerGuy said...

It's good natured EC so I posted it for the fun.

SpacerGuy said...

Exactly, the question remains though doesn't it? Liz. Who took the tent?

I love the still photo. Which episode is that from?

Its a cut and paste pinterest splice. Theres plenty Star Trek episodes like in all our yesterdays and city on the edge of forever with characters getting stranded but its a fair bet this never happened.

Yes, the stars are definitely tacked on but the lower half looks like a single image - the shadows imply such. Hmm. I suppose I can live with wondering.

Found it! It's from "That Which Survives," Season 3, Episode 17. It's in this gallery: https://www.cygnus-x1.net/links/lcars/sc-TOS3-17.php
