Vulcan Mind Meld

"I am not a criminal. I do not require Neural Neutralizer" shouted a wildly frantic Dr. Simon Van Gelder. Dagger of the Mind is the first episode that we see Spock do the Vulcan Mind Meld. The doctors mind is so agonised with pain and unable to communicate properly, Spock melds to find out what really happened on the penal colony.

What is our name? Who are we? - Spock
We are Simon Van Gelder.
Dr Adams? the Neural Neutralizer. What did he do to us? - Spock.
He can reshape any mind he chooses. He used it to erase our memories, put his own thoughts there. He was surprised it took so much power. We fought him remember? but we grew so tired, our minds so blank, so open, that any thought he placed there became our thoughts.

Our minds so empty, like a sponge needing thoughts, begging, empty, lonliness, so lonely to be sitting there, empty, wanting any word from him. Love,- Van Gelder "Yes," - Spock. "Hate," - Van Gelder. "Yes," - Spock. "Live" - Van Gelder. "Yes," - Spock. "Die," - Van Gelder. "Yes," - Spock.
"Such agony to be empty"- Van Gelder.
"Empty" - Spock
"So empty, so empty."- Van Gelder

Vulcan Mind Meld

Spock looked like he was becoming affected with Dr. Van Gelders tortured mind. Star Trek's Dagger of the Mind is brilliant. (Morgan Woodward who played Dr. Simon van Gelder, put in an electrifying performance as the perfect crazed lunatic.)

I was half expecting Dr. McCoy who was observing to snap Spock out of his daydream. Spock had so lost control of the vulcan meld but then consider the mind he was linked to. This is the only time we'll see Spock overwhelmed by a meld with this glazed vacant expression on his face.

Dr Tristan Adams Neural Neutralizer

In 2266 the Enterprise NCC 1701 orbiting Tantalus V Penal Colony, beamed aboard a crazed lunatic. Watch "Dagger of the Mind?" (Season One, The Original Series.) if you want to see one of Star Trek's best madmen on the loose and wrecking havoc on Kirk's ship! The actor Morgan Woodward (madman) is thrilling to watch!

His scene starts off with a box marked "Classified Material - Do Not Open. Bureau of Penology, Stockholm, Eursia-NE" which was beamed up from the planet. The boogy-man music has started playing and then it happens. The box lid rises slowly and quietly. A desperate creature of a man looks out.

His crazed eyes sweep around the transporter room and land on the transporter operator. His first victim. This disturbed mind in his blue jumpsuit was intent on escape from Tantalus V and its nightmare chamber of brainwashing.

A desperate look of madness grips the intruders face as he bolts over to the transporter guy and chops him down. The stowaway is the penal colony's former associate director Dr. Simon Van Gelder!

Dagger Of The Mind

Tantalas V is referred to as a rehabilitation colony by the staff who employ a number of methods in the treatment of its inmates. The attitude of treating the patients and not incarcerating the prisioners promotes a peaceful environment at Tantalas V and in the inmates.

Psychotherapy, medication, the colony's goal of peace, the layout and design of the facility, all contributed to the rehabilitation of the colony's inmates. The only problem was Dr Van Gelder, who involuntarily, ended up receiving treatments from the very programme he was helping to run.

Dr Van Gelder gains entry to the bridge of the Enterprise after overpowering and evading the ships security. Still fighting the adverse affects of the Neural Neutralizer, Van Gelder tells Kirk his sad story and asks for asylum aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise 1701.

The demented and scared doctor held the bridgecrew at phaserpoint until Kirk gave his word. Meanwhile Spock had crept up behind our crazy friend and was ready with the vulcan nerve pinch. Pretty Sly Mr Spock, you little devil you!

Dr Adams is the Director of the Tantalas V Colony. Hes the good guy or is he? He has a happy voice and likes his job.- "To all mankind, may we never find space so vast , planets so cold, hearts and minds so empty that we cannot fill them with love and warmth."

Dr Adams instigated new experimental procedures using his neural neutralizer on the penal colonys more violent cases. So why did he use it on his good buddy and associate director Dr Simon Van Gelder?

Paramount Pictures or

Symbol of Peace: The Tantalas Colony Logo is displayed on all staff's blue tunics. It reflects the peaceful colony goals from all colony experts. In the logo, a large white hand gently holding a white dove between the thumb and forefinger with the sun blazing in the background, symbolizes the colony's effort of bringing peace to its unhappy inmates, as well as hope for their future recovery.

The current Director Dr. Tristan Adams took much pleasure in using the Neural Neutralizer and watching his "patients" writhing in pain, claimed that a failed experiment rendered Van Gelder insane. This was a cover up to hide his needless abuse of the technology which leads to Van Gelders rampage aboard the Enterprise. Dr.Van Gelder was far from being at peace when he escaped from his encounters with the neural neutralizer.

Dr Adams greets captain Kirk and Dr Helen Noel with a smile and drinks all around, free of course! All is well on Tantalas or so it seems.

Even Lethe a former inmate, now colony therapist declared " I Love My Job - I was another person. Hateful, malignant" It was the way she said it. She sounded programmed. Poor woman. She must have received a good dose of the neural neutralizer completely transforming her into the emotionless automaton before Adams introduced her to captain Kirk and Helen Noel. Dr Adams politely cut her off before she said too much. Lethe was one of Adam's successful cases and came accross as being oddly funny.

The Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster's whizzbang recipe in Douglas Adams Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy has driven demented fans and bartenders to create their own lively concoctions because the Gargle Blaster ingredients are fictitious! Its listed all over the Internet. Check this one out.

This Gargleblaster site analyses the official Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster ingredients and decodes the magic ingredients from sci-fi lingo into earthling language. (It also has a h2g2 section for aspiring writers.)

You can now make your own cocktail. Whoopee!! Lets get warped for Christmas! But be careful, this awesome green drink is potent and not for weakling earthlings either! Galactic Guide Project has a non alcoholic version for younger carbon based life forms. So go get warped. Its Christmas!

Rocky Star System

In the constellation of Puppis beams the star called HD 69830 forty one light years away from earth. The stars faint lifesigns lights up the surrounding rocky asteroid belt of failed planet material which never joined to make a world.

Four and a half billion years later the clever eyes of NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope has detected the heat sources created by smashing asteroids, warm dust and the glow of the star. Mr T. Pyles artistic creation of the Rocky Puppis find is thrilling. I can almost picture being there. It looks like the stars beam is calling the rocks home.

"Courtesy NASA/JPL-Caltech."

The smokeball on the middle-right depicts where two asteroids met and had an explosive disagreement. The U.S.S. Enterprise NCC 1701 crew have encountered asteroids before. Miramanee's Planet had a powerful Obelisk structure to deflect stray asteroids from a dangerous rocky belt surrounding the planet. The starship Enterprise failed to stop the approach of a large doomsday asteroid which Mr Spock tried to stop with the ships warp drive at maximum. The obelisk was malfunctioning, Kirk had amnesia and time was running out...

Regula - A Big Rock In Space

Earth's largest group of asteroids is situated between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. Astronomers call it the "Asteroid Belt." You could nearly say that Jupiter and Mars are the natural deflector defence for earth's happy ball of beings...Its always a good idea to have a safety net. The dense mass of our moon has taken quite a few impacts too but I reckon asteroids are most likely attracted by the sun's gravitational pull. So you can sleep soundly in your bed tonight, LOL. You'll have to read my post on Asteroids from the Deep Dark. Watch those skies now!

Wesley's Scarey Beast

The Crusher family DO have bad luck in relationships don't they? Remember "The Host" Dr Beverly Crusher, Chief Medical Officer of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC 1701-D, met Ambassador Odin with the creature lurking secretly inside him. It looked like a fat little snake.

Everyone had to get aquainted at the last minute. What a shocker to the system! The Trill replacement for the creature called "Odin" was a female and really tried to rekindle the firey flames of passion with Beverly! Hilarious!

Image Copyright Belongs to Paramount Pictures
or CBS Paramount Television.

Remember the episode " The Dauphin" with the smart kid of Picard's Enterprise, Wesley Crusher? He did his best to get noticed by the girl Salia. (Add a V and some tongue twisting and watcha got? Thats what I though when I saw sweet Salia on tv for the first time. She was perfect but I digress.) Salia was the next leader of Daled IV with her beast/protector, (Anya) never straying far behind with the evil eye. So far so good.

Wesley fell over himself for Salia's affections, obviously. Curse him. The good news is trouble was slowly descending in the shape of two tall scarey bug eyed monsters. Beautiful Salia was one of two entities in disguise and Wesley figured her for the perfect dreamgirl, LOL!

The nerdling got played big style, hehe! Ensign Wesley Crusher, wiseguy of the Enterprise. This young babe Salia was a shapeshifter. You just got to check the database. Crusher boy was getting sloppy.

Image Copyright Belongs to Paramount Pictures
or CBS Paramount Television.

Heres the lovely furry shapeshifter we all love deep within Salia. Don't you just want to give her a hug? She changed into a big scarey bug eyed beast with brown fur and long sharp claws to protect her sweetheart when Anya her protector turned up at Wesley's quarters to scare the tripe outta everyone. A shocked Wesley watches them leave.

Shouldn't the Enterprises computers and the inhospitable planet (Klavdia III), have told us something? Despite complete access to the ship's extensive resources Crusher got taken, hehe.

Another clue is when Guinan serves Salia a bowl of chocolate in Ten Forward but she doesn't eat any. She passed up chocolate! Twice! That alone should have sparked suspicions that the girl wasn't human. So much for being smart with women. Maybe the boy needs a man to man talk with Geordi in engineering who's had the cold brush off by two women, Christie Henshaw and Leah Brahms. LOL!!! Remember "Booby Trap"and "Galaxy's Child?"

Its neat when Captain Picard promotes Wesley to Acting Ensign Wesley Crusher for his extraordinary dedication and gifted super sleuth ability sending awesome shockwaves up and down trekverse.

How could this not be happening to US???? trekkies figured LOL. Those were the good ol' TNG days, what fun! Thanks to Will Wheaton.

I suppose its every fanboys dream to be seated on the bridge steering the flagship of the federation through the stars but at least we didn't have to wear that uniform, hehe. Strange really but I thought little of it during the day but isn't the rainbow sweater cool?

Seven's Individuality

Image Owner/Creator Paramount Pictures and/or CBS Studios.

Jeri was born Jeri Lynn Zimmerman in Munich, Germany. You know who I'm blogging about! Doesn't she look beautiful? On June 15th, 1991 she married Jack Ryan, an investment banker-turned politician from Illinois and broke the hearts of several thousand nerdlings in the process. The Ryan's had a son, Alex, in 1994 and divorced in 1999. During Star Trek Voyager's seven seasons, I pretended Seven was all mine as she explored the boundaries of her human individuality. Seeing her all wrapped up like that makes a severe impression on a guy but Jeri paid the price for wearing those tight costumes and fainted four times until executives got the specifications just right. I guess one of them had his own special designs on Jeri. Sigh....

Following 1999, Seven became romantically involved with Voyager executive producer Brannon Braga. The two lived together with Ryan's son, but their relationship has since ended. For a brief period geeks momentarily came out of mourning until our hopes were totally dashed again with news of yet another marriage. On 8 February 2005, Ryan and her current husband, French Chef Christophe Eme, opened a restaurant called "Ortolan" which is located on West 3rd Street in Los Angeles, California. Ryan announced that she and Eme were engaged to be married in July 2006, and they married on 16 June the following year. The couple's first child, a daughter Gisele, was born on 2 March 2008.

Dream long and Prosper, trekkers and trekkies.

Spock's Funny!

In 2267 our fluffy tribble pals invade the Enterprise NCC 1701. Trouble with Tribbles is a great episode because this harmless little tribble critter is the center of much devotion on the U.S.S. Enterprise 1701 and the Deep Space station K7. Spock being vulcan, naturally, wouldn't admit to being affected by the little animals trilling.

Image Copyright Belongs to Paramount Pictures and/or CBS Studios.

"Most curious creature captain. Its trilling seems to have a tranquillizing effect on the human nervous system, fortunately of course, I am immune to its effects." Spock's crew mates looked at him in amused, sheer disbelief. What makes this really funny is that Spock remarked on the creatures trilling while enjoying the tribbles company, which he held patting in his hands the whole time with much fascination and affection.

Spock - Science Officer

Mr Spock is the responsible Vulcan Science Officer and second in command of the starship U.S.S. Enterprise NCC- 1701. Spock is a logical creature of science and trusted Commander. Our pointy eared friend is happy to analyze incoming sensor information and advise the captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise in his capacity as Kirk's First Officer.

Mr Spock is affectionately called Spock by the U.S.S. Enterprise crew. Pointy ears is half human and half Vulcan, born on Vulcan in 2230 and highly regarded right across the galaxy. In 2267, Spock earned the Vulcanian Scientific Legion of Honor, twice decorated by Starfleet Command and holds an A7 computer classification.

Star Trek. The In-Between Years

The Vulcan national symbol is worn by Spock on special occasions. The IDIC medallion means Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations. It was designed by Gene Roddenberry and is the basis of Vulcan philosophy. Mr Spock wore it to honour Miranda Jones in Star Trek The Original Series episode "Is There No Truth In Beauty" but she felt a bit overwhelmed at the time if memory serves, hehe..

So what are Vulcanophiles? Sweet adoring female fans of course! According to Leonard Nimoy its the devilish eyes and ears that get females going. An actress visiting Star Trek's (The Original Series) set actually asked to touch Nimoy's ears while he was still in makeup! Isaac Asimov's essay "Mr Spock is dreamy!" is based on his daughters devotion and appreciation of Mr Spock. Apparently women are turned on by smart guys.

Copyright Belongs To
paramount Pictures.

Mr Spock leads a landing party mission in Star Trek' TOS "The Galileo Seven" surrounding the "quasar-like" phenomenon, Murasaki 312. Spock has much to learn about the emotional behaviour of humans preferring instead to steer them away from danger with his pure logical reasoning. The Science officers skills have saved the ship and crew from several life threatening interstellar encounters when pitted against crises situations....

Spock has brains, hidden human emotions, pointy ears, a fat teddy bear and several Starfleet decorations. Nimoy reaps the rewards with flocks of adoring Vulcanophiles fans. Spock's duties as First Officer includes taking command and ensuring the safety for his crew mates who sometimes challenge his commands to catch Spock offguard. Its fun seeing the human peeking through all that pure Vulcan logic verifying Dr McCoy's belief,

"Well.....nobody's perfect."

Our Vulcan friend is however, tormented by his half-human emotions which he failed to purge from his system under the guidance of Vulcan masters in 2270. Spock underwent the ritual after he resigned his Starfleet Commission. Kolinahr was the ultimate Vulcan Achievement in the pursuit of Pure logic just beyond Spock's grasp. Spock went back to his friends on the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701.

Dr Leonard H. McCoy, the chief medical officer of the starship Enterprise enjoys teasing Mr Spock on occasion over his rare emotional outbursts. To add salt to the vulcan's wounds McCoy calls Spocks brother Sybok a "Passionate Vulcan." Mr Spock counters the good doctor's jibes with anecdotes of pure logical reasoning followed with the famous arched eyebrow.

Star Trek (TOS) Amok Time.

Pon Farr occurs in stages. Spock has returned to his home planet Vulcanalia after seven years to mate with T'pring. Logic has gone out the window. The "plak-tow" awakens an illogical mating urge or " blood fever." The Pon Farr is part of the Vulcan males life cycle which releases the physical animal passions building up within body and mind. Females are unaffected by Pon Farr.

The Pon Farr joining cures all Vulcan males from their blood fevers. So too does the Koon-Ut-Kal-If-Fee which is a combat fight to the bitter end, usually instigated by the bride if her mind is set to marry someone else. T'pring bonded with Spock during childhood but now wants to marry her secret lover Ston. She holds up her hand to declare Koon-Ut-Kal-If-Fee pitting brother against brother.

Copyright Belongs to Paramount Pictures.

Spock has a teddy bear pet called a sehlat! Its not any ordinary bear because it has six inch fangs! Growing up on Vulcanalia Spock used to travel into the mountains on his own with his pet sehlat. He used to journey out alone for days on end to the sacred mountain Mount Seleya to test himself. Sehlat was a perfect travelling companion for the vulcan's survival wilderness experience until it was severely injured.

Spock logically decided to have the creature put to sleep rather than watch the wonderful beast overwhelmed with pain and suffering. Dr McCoy would argue that the Vulcan's human emotions got the better of him and that he acted out of a sense of compassion and kindness towards his pet.

I bet you can see Dr McCoy now?

"Mr Spock, logic had nothing to do with it and you know it!"

Starship Warp Speeds

Helm warp 1 Engage! Captain Picard gave this order in the movie Star Trek Generations. The Enterprise NCC 1701-D escaped the deadly heat of the imploding Amargosa star and subsequent level 12 shockwave. The Enterprise which was in orbit of the Armagosa Observatory had only five minutes to reach safety.

The order "warp 1 Engage!" alerted the navigation officer. The fact Captain Picard said "Engage" meant " Now, on the double." instructing the helm to make it so. Picard usually does'nt stand up to give simple commands, so this only tripple emphasized the hidden meaning - Lets get the hell out of here!

Image Copyright Belongs To Paramount Pictures.

Warp Factor 1 is a unit of measurement determining warp speeds. Its been used since Kirk left spacedock with his galant crew on the first stardate 2323. On stardate 3045.6 the episode "Arena" TOS established for the first time that warp factor six was the normal maximum cruising speed of the Enterprise NCC 1701 and that its panic stations when you reach a maximum speed of warp 8.

Tv viewers also found out that the transporters don't work when the shields are up. The Enterprises encounters with various alien lifeforms enabled the ship to exceed warp 10 reaching warp 14.1. Scotty's complaining about the engines blowing up always prompted Captain Kirk to take corrective action.

Image Copyright Belongs To Paramount Pictures.

By the 24th century starships were bigger and faster. The Galaxy Class was luxurious and spacious compared to Kirks 23rd century Constitution Class where they packed the crew in. A new warp scale was introduced in Picards time, while still making warp 1 the equivilent to the speed of light, warp 10 was theoretically impossible.

Until Lt Tom Paris of Voyager NCC- 74556 ran some extraordinary tests in a shuttle craft and succeeded in reaching the Warp 10 speed. This placed him in all points in the universe at the same time. Had he achieved this record in federation space it would have made him famous.

Under the new warp formula Picard's U.S.S. Enterprise Ncc 1701-D cruising speed of warp 6 is equivilent to Kirk's Enterprise Ncc 1701-A of warp 7.3 on the old scale. The maximum normal warp 9.2 velocity is equal to 11.8 under the old warp system. Alot of advances were made in the last 78 years, starship technology being one.

Due to increased space travel, it was discovered that warp fields were wearing away the fabric of the space time continum. A new upper warp speed was established in " Force of Nature - TNG" for all starships. Unmodified warp engines were limited to warp 5.

I guess all they needed was a good catalytic converter. Problem easily solved for Starfleets Core of Engineers. Poor Geordi, stuck in engineering warping around at W5, man he must have been sooo depressed...wheres the fun, if you can't go for a spin anymore?

Star Trek Fun Facts

Star Trek is my passion and I'm only too happy to share what I know about Star Trek and other related stories with you, my readers. The information you find on our Star Trek Sci Fi Blog is accurate and well researched. I've been a fan of Star Trek going back to 1984 when I first started watching TOS on tv and 1987 was an awesome occasion when Star Trek TNG hit the airwaves.

Star Trek Conventions, Dvds for TOS, TNG and Voyager, Star Trek novels, Mr Scotts Guide To The Enterprise and The Star Trek Fact Files have enriched my cool star trek experience. There are thousands of trekkers out there having fun. If theres anything you want to know about Star Trek or see me do a post on leave a remark for me to read. I'll do a post each on the first 15.

This mug is available at Creation Entertainment Its a swell mug because your hot tea or coffee will make Kirk, Spock and Dr Mc Coy disappear! figure that!

Voyagers Captain Proton and Buster Kincaid

In 2349 Harry Kim was born and raised by his earthling parents. He was the youngest officer to land a post with the Intrepid Class U.S.S. Voyager NCC-74656. In 2370, Mr Kim graduated from Starfleet Academy and later demonstrated engineering, tactical and analytical ability. Captain Janeway welcomed Harry onboard. The Perfect Starfleet Officer.

Image Copyright Belongs to Paramount Pictures.

Tom Paris became one of Kim's closest friends. The Perfect Rogue Ex-Starfleet Officer. Kim and Paris spend offduty time together in the holodeck programmes. Tom Paris as Captain Proton the fearless rescuer! Harry Kim as Buster Kincaid forever at odds with the polygonal forces of evil.

Based on 1930's science fiction, Captain Proton's mission in life is to conquer the dreadful Dr Chaotica and his evil minions. Harry is of course Tom's sidekick. Tom Paris and Tuvoc repaired Satans Robot which got damaged by the holographic aliens. Apparently Chaotica has waged war against them with his holographic weaponry wreaking total havoc because the holo emitters are malfunctioning. Paris is under pressure to regain control and stop Chaotica before time is runs out.

Satan's Robot was part of the Captain Proton simulation visited by Chakotay and Captain Janeway while Voyager was fractured into several different time periods.

The character was heavily influenced by a Robot used in several Republic serials from the 1940s. His most famous appearance is in the film Zombies of the Stratosphere, where he battles a Captain Proton-like hero named Commando Cody.

Seven of Nine

In 2374 Seven of nine was captured and liberated by the friendly intrepid class USS Voyager (NCC-74656). This spectacular Borg drone was skilfully played by Jeri Ryan in her awesome Starfleet costumes that just made my heart flutter. But Seven, as we got to know her was more than just a piece of skirt. Her cool, indifferent character proved to be a valuable member of Voyager's crew and as she struggled to free her mind from the Collective Hive Mind and regain her individuality something happened. Truly I enjoyed watching Jeri stride across the deckplates all packaged up in her shiny new Voyager outfit but it wasn't that.

For the first time in her life, she had to cope without the help of the "other voices" from the unified Borg drones to reassure her. Seven of nine was discovering her human identity and unfettered by her separation, Seven delivered on time and dispensed with formalities in her fiery Borg voice. I guess you could say, Voyager's crew welcomed her into their human starship collective.

Image Copyright belongs to Paramount Pictures.

Assimilated from an early age of seven in 2355 on the USS Raven, Seven has only vague memories of her earlier life as Annika Hansen. Her human parents were Magnus Hansen and Erin Hansen but they too, were assimilated and put to work by the Borg. For 19 years this unfortunate human lived with various Borg implants and nanoprobes in her system.

Born on Earth in 2348 on the Tendara Colona Colony, she lost her indivuality and became a walking, talking, piece of Borg hardware raised by Borg as Borg. Her full Borg designation is Seven of Nine, Tertiary Adjunct of Unimatrix Zero One.

Seven Of Nine

Linked to the hive, sevens thoughts became organised and together, her previous family of drones achieved true feats of perfection, assimilating civilisations, without chaos, without emotion or human remorse. The Borg Assimilate, resistance is futile, your existance as you knew it is over. You will become one with the Borg.

Seven of Nines Borg designation was an earful so Captain Janeway suggested " Seven " catchy you might think? Seven, though not impressed, found it acceptable.

Harry Kim found Seven lips acceptable in every way. The Captains paired Seven and Kim together. Kim develops a crush on seven after working with her in the Astrometrics Lab.

Sevens optical implant gives her an edge because she can measure Harry Kims physiological human responses. Kims failing attempts at winning her over lead the Borg to making the first move.

Hardly surprising Ensign Kim abandons any further advances on his secret crush. Garrett Wang admitted in an interview that there is a kissing scene which involves himself and Jeri Ryan.

It was a nice experience, primarily because Jeri and I have really plump lips. Well, we could see what was going on Garrett! You lucky devil!

Bill Shatner and Tim Gaskill.

Bill Shatner and Tim Gaskill (interviewer) had a barrell of laughs at Startrek.com G4 Studio over Bills New Games, Star Trek Legacy and Star Trek Tactical Assault.
This question was a beauty.

How do you feel about extending the whole Star Trek metaphor, the universe, in the interactive domain? sounds Tim all serious and proffessional like.
A playful bewildered look flashes over Bills face.
" What does that question mean? Are you cursing?" enquires our Star Trek hero injecting some fun into the interview.
Tim talks to Bill about his games, the secret to Bill's success, star trek convention circuits, tv commercials, the big bang, his tv roasting and geeks.

Fun Times for Leonard Nemoy and Bill Shatner.

" So the games are adult orientated but the kids only have time to play them. So theres a strange problem there and if you find an adult that plays them (games) are they more childlike?" W.S.
" I think so, I think they're a kid at heart." T.G.
" Is that the definition of a geek? W.S.
" Absolutely in one fell swoop!" T.G.

Geeks who watch this will feel special. It's fun to watch. I laughed. A mobile phone rang during the interview. Oh no! you might think, but not so, Bill shatner turned it around and had everyone laughing! Watch the video for yourself Bill Shatner's Interview at StarTrek.com

Voyager I and II's Interstellar Journey

Mans thirst for knowledge of the outer planets, interstellar space bodies and our galaxy led to the approval of Voyager Mission in 1972.

The Voyagers probes I and II are nearly identical and were overseen by the engineers at the Jet Propulsion Labratory (JPL). Launched using Titan/Centaur rockets in August and September of 1977 these satelites are really big with 65,000 individual parts.

The satelites are able to generate their own electrical powered energy from the natural radioactive decay of plutonium into electricty to power the satelites instruments, computers, radio and other craft systems.

How Satelites Work from Satelite to Ground

The Voyager spacecraft will discontinue around 2020 because its Radioisotopes will cease. Sad really because these machines are Earth's first spectacular interstellar explorers.

Voyagers Grand Tour Of Space

Above is Voyager 1's actual farewell view of the earth and its moon. This was relayed to earths ball of beings in a single frame on september 1977 as it continued on its journey into the vast expanse of space.

Voyager Finds Three Surprises

Spock goes on an adventure of his own. Spacesuited he leaves the Enterprise NCC 1701-A and investigates the unknown chambers of Vger. Inside the Vger vessel he finds to his amazement a world of the mechanical and organic beings. Llia is one of the organics stored as a perfect 3D electrical energy pattern.

" Jim, Vgers programming is incomplete. Vger is cold, barren. This simple feeling - not possible."
"Vger's asking questions, is this all that I am, is there nothing more?" - Spock

The poor machine was longing for human company all along.

Worf's Klingonspeak

The Klingon Language was invented for Star Trek The Motion Picture by James Doohan. He became famous for Scotty's highlands accent and getting the USS Enterprise NCC-1701 out of scrapes.

Except for peoples names the Klingon language was never spoken before Star Trek 1. In the Search for Spock, the linguist Marc Okrand developed James Doohans Klingon Language. The dialogue evolved.

Worf and Martok in Deep Space 9's Holosuites

Taking half a dozen words Okrand identifed the command form of words. Core words were key. He was able to elaborate and add sounds and grammatical structure. Klingonspeak is a real Language with words and grammar not just sounds.

Sins of the father in Star Trek's TNG was Worfs story and a relaunch of the Klingon Mythos. The Klingon Dictionary is the Official Guide to Klingon words and phrases. It explains how the grammar works for all you aspiring Klingons! The TNG used the dictionary.

Michael Dorn Flies a Military Training Jet F-86!

Michael Dorn has read the book. In an interview given by the actor, "Worf" happily mentions the Klingon Dictionary, its description of Klingons and their behaviour. Michael freely admitted that the book helped him develop his Klingon character and got him the part for the Star Trek's TNG. Marc Okrand can be pleased for his contribution replied Michael Dorn smiling. Its hard to picture, but yes, Worf was smiling!
