Star Trek has impacted on popular culture with phrases and quotes from the show infecting us, Yes! Thats means you and me. Haven't you noticed? Yes or No? maybe you're an unbeliever? So we're skeptical at first and undecided with unbelief!

Thats why our heroes commanding the starship USS Enterprise NCC 1701 are roaming the universe spreading the good word. STAR TREK LIVES! Now Trek communication has taken grip of our everyday lives via our conversations through those gadget thingies everyones staring at especially at fan conventions. Iphones they call them. Almost everyone knows the Star Trek lingo, stating logical facts or hellsfire in heated moments of passion.

But who said what?   Which one is your favorite?

All hands Battle Stations!
Beam me up, Scotty!
Hes dead Jim.
I'm a doctor not a bricklayer!
Hailing frequencies open.
Make it so.
Resistance is futile.

Live long and Prosper!  :) my trekker friends!

Earth is moving through space at a phenomenal rate of 1.3 million miles per hour, scary no? That means one thing. Everyday, happy earthies relax sitting in our favourite armchairs watching Star Trek - but ask yourself one question... Have we really got a clue how fast we're moving through space?  We just don't notice the Earths rotation and why should we? - because while she spins, we geek out and sit back happily for the ride.

Travelling in space means having to adjust to a large scale where even distance, time, and lifeforms can be enormous. Fortunately gravity holds us tightly to the spinning core of our planet.

In Star Trek there are some cosmic creatures the USS Enterprise has encountered and barely survived to tell the tale.

The Space Amoeba is one of the most bizzare and largest - 11,000 miles in length, it drained Captain Kirks ship.

The Doomsday Machine decimated entire regions of space, eating planets along the way. Its earned its nickname "Planet Killer" by terrorizing populated worlds.

The Crystalline Entity looked like a huge snowflake and traveled throughout the galaxy on electromagnetic power by digesting organic matter. Its appetite wasn't quite as massive as the Doomsday Machine but people perished.

Farpoint Station was investigated by the USS Enterprise NCC 1701-D. Inhabitants of Deneb IV constructed the place except the station turned out to be an intelligent creature! Its twin tried to free it by attacking from space. Bad creature, bad creature.

Nagilum was an immortal being from outside the universe who was in fact an alien scientist with a vast intelligence. Fascinated with life and death Nagilum experimented on the Enterprise-D crew inflicting despair and misery. I mean this alien was bad news, QED. Pascal was the first to die which outraged Picard, still the creatures curiosity had to be satisfied. He tested the boundries of humanoids using "limited existence" as a paradigm. Murdering the Enterprise-D crew and threatening the ship was I assume part of the "rats in a maze" experiment. His conclusions were I have to admit, quite interesting, Tell me what you think.

You seem to find no tranquility in anything.
You struggle against the inevitable,
You thrive in conflict,
You are selfish, yet value loyalty.
You are rash, quick to judge, slow to change,
Its amazing you've survived,
Be that as it may, as a species we have no common ground.
You are too aggressive, too hostile, too militant.
You too have been evaluated, - It would seem we have one thing in common.
Your point well taken Captain - alien laughs
Only next time we meet it will be out here in the stars.

Which cosmic space creature have you got a soft spot for?

In Star Trek the Original Series, Kirk's first kiss with the "actress" (Barbara Anderson) was stalled when they discovered Dr Thomas Leighton, meanwhile the Enterprise transports the acting company to their next destination.

The "company" or troupe of actors included Lenores father, the suspected criminal Kodos the Executioner. So the game was afoot you might say. In any case Kirk was busy romancing Lenore, no less, hoping to pick up some clues and discover who Kodos really was.

We know at this time its Lenores father but the guy really has a murky past. Sadly she's been covering for her mans ol' sins and has been killing off anyone who get too close to the truth, making the "KISS" almost fatal, a real sweetheart!

Whats the name of this classic trek episode?

1 Court Martial
2 Mirror Mirror
3 The Conscience of the King

Android Andrea

A is for Sci-Fi Androids - Ash, Bishop, Call and Data.

QUESTION Who was the MOST beautiful android creation from STAR TREK The Original Series? Heres a hint. Archaeologist Roger Korby built her using technology left over from an ancient civilization on Exo III.

ANSWER: Sherry Jackson played stunning android, Andrea in star trek's classic episode "What are little girls made of?" and wasn't she a stunner?

Seizing the moment and the android, Kirk plants a sloppy wet kiss right onto her sweet pretty smacker. Poor Andrea, I bet her that move overloaded her logical android programming.

KIRK AND ANDREA  you get the idea.

While trying to grapple with emotions, Android Andrea is so innocent and trusting.

All she says "No, not programmed for you." in her sweet pure voice.

She realizes feelings are so illogical yet the kiss triggers an unstoppable chain of emotions in her! How is this possible?

What happens in the end? More phaser blasts and kissing but I won't ruin the fun on you, lol.

S is for Spocks Brain.

The games afoot on an M-class ice world in Star Treks #61 classic third season. Here we have the "Sigma Draconis Star System" where the Morgs live. Apparently, these guys live in awful stone age surface conditions, representing the ultimate specter of terror, for the lovely female Eymorgs - except here's the thing. The Eymorgs live underground and want for nothing except now their "Controller" has died!!! OH NO!!!! Oh My Gawd, imagine the poor dumb lovely Eymorgs living topside with the beastly MORGS!!!! LOL

Artwork: PZNS

So when a mysterious beautiful woman from this technologically advanced society beams aboards Captain Kirk's USS Enterprise NCC 1701, Is anyone able to stop her? No, of course. She supposed to be "mindless" and yet you decide.....I hate to be he one to break the news. LOL Okay I'm 50 years too late but even still. C'mon seriously, stealing  Spocks brain and vanishing leaving the poor dude behind? So now, the USS Enterprise crew are stumped with a real "who done it" mystery to solve.

What parallel similarities do you see in H G Wells Morlachs and Eloi compared to Star Trek's Lee Cromonin Morgs and Eyemorgs?

Who has your vote, H G Wells or Star Trek?

Naughty Nightingale Women.

N is for Naughty Nightingale Women. These trek babies bringing forth memories from Star Trek's classic original series. Definitely, a wow moment, just look at their sexy Science and Engineering uniforms! The Vulcan princess in red is holding her fallen comrade with purple hair and obviously calling for immediate backup.

Curiously our shaken friend appears have "Trill" features on her face, which is fascinating! I'm thinking time travel perhaps? I'm jumping to this conclusion because -  the Trill were not members of the Federation in the 23rd century until the 24th DS9 era..... unless there's another reason?

Nightingale Women is a poem which reads, "My love has wings, slender feathered things with grace and upswept curve and tapered tip."

I'm featured on Alex J. Cavanaugh's Blog today, way to go Alex, I'm soaring through the stars...

On a trekker note "Medical Miracles" has become a fascinating set of buzz words in science, engineering and sci-fi. I introduced this concept here at Star Trek Sci Fi Blog eleven years ago and then wowsers! NASA's David Allen Batchelor shares further insight on "the Science of Star Trek" at the NASA Website. You read right trekker, just remember Spacerguy broke the news right here, FIRST.

My subject at the time was simple and remains popular even now. I chose "Dr McCoys Medical Miracles" as the subject title for my thesis in 2006 and wrote about McCoys "Medical Miracles". NASA's physicist David Batchelor gives his informed opinion on Star Trek's "Medical Miracles" revealing fantastic things about Star Trek's futuristic features. For instance are android positronic brains (imagined by Isaac Asimov) the real or unreal deal?

In Star Trek's universe. He points out whether 1.) Technologies work. 2.) Technologies/ certain stories plots in star trek are scientifically accurate or not. He also highlights mistakes from a fun physics perspective. What works and what doesn't work is no laughing matter.... get it???? but I believe I can boldly up the ante on NASA's Maestro of Physics, hehe. I plan on writing a piece on Dr Crusher's Medical Miracles to energize some TNG fun in our trekverse.

So whats my trekkie ace on NASA's Star Trek physics expert, David Allen Batchelor?

No biggie really,

During my trek voyages, I've discovered new evidence coming from science fiction into reality! Star Treks Tricorder now officially exists but does it work? Apparently, the "Qualcomm Tricorder X-Prize Foundation" started a global competition which Final Frontier Medical Devices won and received $2.5 million bucks.

 What can it actually do?

The device can diagnose 34 health conditions long before 24 hours elapses using a custom built AI. The beauty of this thing are the non-invasive sensors providing a final analysis on the patient while cross referencing all available medical data on medical conditions.

The Roddenberry Foundation has added $1.6 million for the development of these tricorders where they will eventually reach patients in hospitals across the world.

Can you see a Star Trek tricorder diagnosing your health years from now?

Isn't Alex J Cavanaugh the coolest for giving me a shout out?

What do you think of David Allen Batchelor article "the Science of Star of Star Trek"?

I coined Dr McCoys Medical Miracles in 2006 but  I'm a trekker not database!

KHAN: There she is! There she is! ...Not so wounded as we were led to believe. So much the better.

[Enterprise bridge]

SPOCK: Estimating nebula penetration in two point two minutes. Reliant is closing.
KIRK: Steady as you go.

[Reliant bridge]

JOACHIM: If they go in there we'll lose them.
KHAN: Explain it to them.

Star Trek The Wrath of Khan is a popular movie in Trekland. Here are a few facts for untrained eyes which are worth knowing. Captain Kirk and genetic superhuman Khan are keen to settle an old feud, after he escapes Ceti Alpha V and takes over the USS Reliant NCC 1864 which finally led to this fight in cold space.

QUESTION: What device did Khan use to try and win revenge on Captain Kirk USS Enterprise NCC 1701?

Braggadocious Harry Mudd

B is for Braggadocious but have you got the sci-fi hubris to answer this question? What crafty cunning Star Trek character with enough con-man bluff actually enjoys boasting but belongs behind bars? ...... Answer: Why Harry Mudd of course!

You'll be glad to know then that Mudd's career of fast deals is being re- energized by Rain Wilson in Star Trek Discovery. Wilson co-starred in Galaxy Quest as one of the Aliens (Lahnk) and was awesome but what of Roger C. Carmel's character? Mudd starred in only two classic episodes which gives Discovery producers plenty of scope to play around with the prequel timeline.

The secret here is to move mountains and create new Star Trek friendships. Times change, people change but not Harry, same ol Harry, hehe. He's still up to his ol tricks.....or is he?

Hmmmm Harry's new bag of tricks...

Andorian Alien Assassins

A is for Andorians but what do we know about these Alien unknowns? In 2161, the cold, icy planet of Andoria took part in talks to form a coalition with the UFP. So lets get down to brass tacks, trekkers.

Some say Andorians are loving sky blue passionate creatures but I hate to break the tragic news to you folks, history records our blue skinned friends as being passionate and violent! The baddest, Thelev murders Tellarite Gav in Star Trek's Classic "Journey to Babel." So he had attitude for sure!

But it could be worse,  Bad enough, Thelev is a cold blooded murderer, well maybe not the cold bit. But the guy actually stabs Captain James T. Kirk in the back and hes the dude hosting the Babel conference on Starship USS Enterprise 1701!!! I know. You'd better believe it.

So now for the good news. Turns out Thelev is really an Orion spy in Andorian disguise! Haha... had you going, didn't I?

WHO MURDERED GAV? But heres the kicker can you identify the assassin?

Live long and Prosper!

Orion Heaven

Q made Captain Picard's dreams come true, trouble is theres a little catch. You see that ship Enterprise NX 01?

The Orions appearing in The Animated Series depicted the Orion female, in "The Time Trap", and the Orion males in "The Pirates of Orion" as being light-skinned due to coloring difficulties (the same problem also occurred with the normally blue-skinned Andorians, which appeared gray).

Although most other Star Trek episodes had pronounced Orion as "Oh-RYE-on", the word was pronounced "OR-ee-un" throughout "The Pirates of Orion". The mistake was due to the fact that the animated scripts did not include a pronunciation page, unlike scripts of later live-action Star Trek episodes. "The Pirates of Orion" also featured the second appearance of an Orion craft, this time using a far more detailed animation than that used in "Journey to Babel". The episode was the first to reference the Orion species in its title and remains the only episode to have done so.

If Captain Picard wants all these lovely green Orion babes, lusting all over his baldy head, then he has to take Captain Archers place. Thats right, Picard must replace Archer and stay on board as captain of the original Enterprise NX 01. So my friends, the ball is in your court, you'll have to decide and make up your minds on this one!

Have fun and prosper Trekkers and Trekkies!

May the force of Q be with us all.
