Synthetic Scotch Synthetic Commanders

Hi Trekkers, Spacerguy here. Its always nice to kick back with a cocktail and enjoy a drink with your android Starfleet buddy when duties permit. Scotty in TNG Relics just had a sip of synthehol and nearly choked! Even 75 years locked in a continuous transporter cycle didn't develop the taste buds for fake booze. So here Data finds the solution and its by no means artificial. Guinan, a woman of many secrets with her bar counter in Ten Forward is just the ticket.

Whats the green cocktail called?

1. SAURIAN BRANDY - Potent liqueur

2. ALDEBARIAN WHISKEY - Alcoholic beverage of considerable potency

3. KLINGON BLOOD WINE -  Packs quite the punch

Hi Trekkers, here are 5 clever one liners from our favorite Star Trek Classic and Star Trek the Next Generation TV shows.

Quotes like these will seem pretty obvious for fans of Science Fiction but test yourself. Go on you'll be surprised.  Its a simple enough quiz of sorts but can you match these faces to the statements? I bet you can! Now make it so

(WORF, RIKER, Q, DR MCCOY AND K'EHlEYR) in mixed order....

1. Eat any good books lately?

2. God I liked him better before he died.

3. Whereas others take a simpler approach. Say nothing.

4. When one does not have the words

5. Only a veruul would use such language in public.

Michael Dorn (aka Worf) studied the Klingon Way written by Marc Ocrand. In an interview given by the actor, "Worf" happily mentions the Klingon Dictionary, its description of Klingons and their behaviour. He speaks about how the book helped him develop his Klingon character that got him the part for the Star Trek's TNG.

So here he is at a Rose City Comic Con at Portland, Oregon with Gates Mc Fadden (Beverly Crusher) and Marina Sirtis (Counselor Troi) chatting to fans about the Star Trek Discovery appearance of Klingons in the new show.

"Your mother has a smooth forehead"  - is an insult in which Alien language in Science Fiction?

1) Alienese (Futurama)

2) Na'vi (Avatar)

3) Dothraki (Game of Thrones)

4) Klingon (Star Trek)

The 4 you see here are real alien languages, developed by linguistic professionals and professors.

Which one of these Sci-Fi alien languages do you think holds the correct answer? Have fun!

Only two actors read for the role of Commander Data of the USS Enterprise NCC 1701-D (remember our android friend who got blown to bits in Star Trek nemesis?)

Of course we know now Brent Spiner became Data, but the other actor went on to portray a recurring character on Star Trek The Next Generation.

Which of these three is it?  and what role did he play?

1.) Roger C. Carmel  aka Harry Mudd (Role: Conman, Swindler and Scam Artist)

2.) Michael Dorn aka Worf ( Role: Klingon/ Chief of Security )

3.) Eric Menyuk aka Time-traveler ( Role: Scientist playing second banana to Kozinski )

Sherlock Holmes - Star Trek Fact

Elementary, Dear Data is a play on 'Elementary, my dear Watson' in Star Trek The Next Generation. This often quoted phrase brings Sherlock Holmes up for speculation. However, neither Benedict Cumberbatch, Robert Downey Jr or Jeremy Brett ever uttered the words in any of Conan Doyles Tv series, movies or canon. So lets be clear. Sherlock never said it!!!! Ahh ha!  but what about Star Trek?

Well then ...  The Game Is Afoot.... so....

Which actor said: "Elementary, Dear Data" ?

Benedict Cumberbatch
Patrick Stewart
Jeremy Brett
Diana Muldaur
Brent Spiner
LeVar Burton
Daniel Davis

(the clues are staring you guys in the face with one of the actors who appears the most)

Andorian Alien Assassins

A is for Andorians but what do we know about these Alien unknowns? In 2161, the cold, icy planet of Andoria took part in talks to form a coalition with the UFP. So lets get down to brass tacks, trekkers.

Some say Andorians are loving sky blue passionate creatures but I hate to break the tragic news to you folks, history records our blue skinned friends as being passionate and violent! The baddest, Thelev murders Tellarite Gav in Star Trek's Classic "Journey to Babel." So he had attitude for sure!

But it could be worse,  Bad enough, Thelev is a cold blooded murderer, well maybe not the cold bit. But the guy actually stabs Captain James T. Kirk in the back and hes the dude hosting the Babel conference on Starship USS Enterprise 1701!!! I know. You'd better believe it.

So now for the good news. Turns out Thelev is really an Orion spy in Andorian disguise! Haha... had you going, didn't I?

WHO MURDERED GAV? But heres the kicker can you identify the assassin?

Live long and Prosper!

Star Trek and Dr Whos Doctors

"You owe me something, you do realise that - don't you?"
"Not Now Doctor. Please!!!"

In 1997 Dr Who had eight doctors and so did Star Trek. Heres Treks run down: Dr Philip Boyce, Dr Mark Piper, Dr Leonard "Bones" McCoy, Dr Christine Chapel, Dr Beverly Crusher, Dr Katherine Pulaski, Dr Julian Bashir, and the EMH - Voyager's Emergency Medical Hologram. If you include the EMH on the USS Enterprise NCC 1701-E then thats nine but wait what about Dr Who's Peter Cushing and Richard Hurndall?

So which sci fi genre wins?

Given recent success with bigger and worse block buster movies and spin off TV series -  Which Sci Fi Genre, Star Trek or Dr Who has the most doctors?

Yesterdays Enterprise - Star Trek TNG Quiz

In Star Trek's (TNG) 63rd episode "Yesterdays Enterprise" a cool ship from 22 years ago time travels into the future escaping certain destruction. In a remarkable turn of events Tasha Yar is still alive, the USS Enterprise NCC 1701-C isn't destroyed and Klingon/Federation solidarity in the 24th century simply doesn't exist. Why? All because one Federation ship skips through time and drastically alters the future. For the most part temporal time rifts/paradoxes are pure head melters. The past is the future, the future is the past, go figure. The fun begins when we discover the USS Enterprise NCC 1701-D isn't a ship of peace but of WAR!

Which Enterprise-D actor said,

"To this day I do not understand "Yesterday's Enterprise." I do not know what the f*** happened in that episode."

Was it.....

1. Whoopi Goldberg aka Guinan

2. Brent Spiner aka Android Data or

3. Johnathan Frakes aka Commander William Riker?

If you really want to know skip ahead to 1.12sec. Otherwise, guess right and prosper, trekkers and trekkies.

Where No One Has Gone Before - Star Trek TNG Quiz

In Star Trek TNG 6th episode "Where No One Has Gone Before," an ill fated, freakish warp-drive experiment catapults the USS Enterprise NCC 1701-D far beyond known Federation stars, 2.7 million light years away! How cool is that? The crew of the Enterprise-D are in new uncharted territory, Galaxy M33 to be precise. You might say its getting a little dicey aboard the ship. Somehow the power of human imagination is distorting time in the physical universe, freaking out the Enterprise-D crew who begin to see and hear things which aren't real...

Which TNG bridge officer met their deceased mother played by Herta Ware, who appears in the corridors of the USS Enterprise NCC 1701-D?

Was it...

1. Lieutenant Tasha Yar
2. Klingon Worf
3. Captain Jean Luc Picard

He's Dead Jim

Dan Connolly created this drawing of Spock, Jim and Bones, except something is missing, heh.

Is the redshirt sporting pointy ears? Why is Spock wearing a redshirt? Could this be Scotty?

"He's dead, Jim" is the famous catch phrase used by the USS Enterprises Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Leonard 'Bones' McCoy in Star Trek the classic series.

How many times does the doctor say the word "dead" when one of the Enterprise crew, such as a redshirt or another character dies?

1) 24

2) 34  or

3) 44 times?

Star Trek Into Darkness Teaser Facts

Today Trek is boldly going into the depts of darkness. Its different and dare I say, exciting. The new Star Trek Into Darkness teaser has an awesome minute less than its predecessor, now beaming into theaters all over the nation. The amazing USS Enterprise NCC 1701 was hiding apparently, submerged on the planet Nibiru, under water no less, so boldly NOT exploring anything. Instead she sits there, we're talking DEEP, UNDERCOVER and get this... the reason? is to preserve Nibiru's natural development by upholding the Prime Directive!!!

So I'm reserving judgement until Trek's Into Darkness premieres on May 17th 2013. I have to admit, being just a wee trek fanboy, Star Trek's new teaser trailer has raised allot of questions in my mind over the weekend.

1. Whos owns the mystery hands separated by the glass?
2. Cryogenic frozen pods smacks of a Kahn connection. Is there some poor unfortunate inside these things?
3. What is the Nibiru volcanic creatures purpose? Could it be the same as the whales in Star Trek IV, the Voyage Home?
4. Why did Kirk zap the squeaking biped creature? Maybe it just wanted to snack!
5. A starship takes a nosedive into water like something out of thunderbirds and I'm wondering, Has Kirk hijacked the USS Enterprise NCC 1701 again to go on a heroic rescue spree?

6. Why is Chekov wearing a Red Shirt. Will he say, 'I can do zat!?'
7. Its official Benedict Cumberbatch is John Harrison but why is he locked up in brig confinement?
8. Klingons are the tip of the spear! Whats their involvement and with whom?
9. Will the starship under water last long enough or end up like the most forgotten car in Earth's history and rust to death? Is this the USS Enterprise, Kirk and Bones take cover aboard, because it looks like the titanium hull has all the integrity and strength of a piece of plasticine. Poor Scotty!
10. Is Spock going to say goodnight from inside a firey volcano?
11. Did you find Uhuras and Spock's farewell kiss touching? Will Uhura save her vulchie or let him fry?
12. Has the volcanic creature got special powers?

A wonderful mix of trekkers and Hobbit fans packed into the audience dying to see Bilbo Baggins, Smaug and the tunnel creature Gollum on Friday. What wonderful sorcerery, shapeshifting, and wizardry I thought and all with, Goblin and Orc fans surrounding me. Weird. Awesome. I'm a trekkie, d-m it! I shouldn't be feeling this way. LOL. The accents were easy enough to follow but I really beamed in for IMAX for one reason only. To catch the latest scoop on Star Trek Into Darkness.

Trekmovie, I09 and Screenrant do a brilliant job dishing the latest trek spoilers for every sci fi fan who lives, sleeps and eats over Star Trek on planet earth. So why should they have all the fun?

J.J. Abrams is directing Star Trek Into Darkness off a screenplay by Alex Kurtzman, Damon Lindelof and Roberto Orci. Starring Chris Pine, Benedict Cumberbatch, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, John Cho, Anton Yelchin and Simon Pegg.
Star Trek Into Darkness hits cinemas in (regular and IMAX 3D) on May 17th, 2013.

What did you like about Star Trek's teasers over the weekend? Who is your favorite Star Trek Into Darkness character? Do you think the hands 'farewell' will make you cry?

Robotic Lifeform

A sentient robot would be a really marvelous feat of engineering, wouldn't it? Imagine having your very own robotic slave to love! You could say goodbye to homework and hoovering around the house forever! Mowing the lawn too would become a thing of the past. Today's impressive robots have computer brains to analyse planets, assemble cars and hoover carpets. What kind of redeeming robotic qualities would you build into an A.I. if your starship crash landed on a deserted planet?

1. Would you build a kind, superior or mean robot? (I beg you to reconsider if you choose the mean machine! Lol!)
2. Would your robot be the friendly type and keep you company into the night?
3. Would your robot be able to learn, play and enjoy itself in its time off?
4. Would your robot be designed to emulate human feelings or have real ones?
5. Would your robot ever disobey your orders, or be completely fail safe with an on off switch?
6. Would your robot be specifically programmed to answer questions with an exhaustive computer memory salvaged from your starship?
7. Would your robot ever complain and say, 'Hey dude, Time Out!'? Hehe...
8. Could your robot ever re-program itself to become more human?
9. Would your robot obey the three laws of Robotics?
10. Would your robot have the strength of 10 men or one?
11. Would you construct a tough emotionless waterproof robot or build a friendly human A.I. that short circuits when it gets wet.
12. Is the kindness and warmth of your robots character more important than its pure intellect?

(You can choose a combination for your answers and add your own)

Dream long and prosper, trekinators.

Darpa Trek Codename

Did you know that the US Navy, the US Airforce and NASA have all studied the USS Enterprise NCC 1701's bridge as a futuristic model for a hightech command centre? In 1994 DARPA, the Defense Advanced Research Project Administration contacted Star Trek designer Herman Zimmerman and asked him to help them create an experimental control center based on the USS Enterprise NCC 1701 bridge. This project was deemed of such importance it was given a really cool codename.

Image Owner/Creator: Paramount Pictures and/or CBS Studios

Which Trek Codename did they use for the Enterprise Darpa project?

1) Was it called Trekbreaker?
2) Starbreaker?
3) Defensebreaker?
4) Warbreaker?
5) Shieldbreaker?
6) or Minebreaker?

Heres TOS Enterprise bridge on full display at Star Treks: The Exhibition at Detroits Science Center. Isn't it a thing of beauty?
