Kirk vs Kraal remix of Star Trek Beyond Trailer 1

Heres YouTuber Auralnauts remix of Star Trek Beyond's Trailer 1 from last December.

"Lets find hope in the impossible" says Kraal (Idris Elba) over the speaker system.

Really? Kraal is clever. He talks peace but hits his opponent with high energy blasts. Well enough is enough. You might try hailing this brand new Enterprise, beaming over or investigating but forget it. The real Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner) has other ideas!

"This is where it begins Captain," taunts Kraal.

" Lock phasers on target,"

"We can only take a few more seconds of this!" warns Spock

" Mr Bailey Lock Phasers! Fire Main Phasers!"

Captain Kirk never disappoints. The USS Enterprise NCC 1701 moves in for the kill and in two blasts Kraal is spacedust. I wonder how the new movie plays out. I was laughing towards the end of this video. The classic crew have given us their classic reactions to STB villain "Kraal" first hand.

What did you think of the classic crew reactions to the enemy threat?

Star Trek Reboot Movies vs the Classic Movies

Last week, Blog talkie radio hosts Neil Rosen, Bill McCuddy and Bill Bregoli met Star Trek Beyond insider, Logan Hill. He was upbeat about STAR TREK going to places where the franchise has never been before. Is it good places? So far, Logan admits he was impressed, about what? he doesn't say...

                                    Let Talk Star Trek

Logan admits "The buzz on the trailer wasn't great" confirming what Simon Pegg said on December 17 2015.

“I didn’t love it because I know there’s a lot more to the film. There’s a lot more story, a lot more character stuff, and a lot more what I would call Star Trek stuff.”

Star Treks insider also says "People were kind of sniping at the trailer but I got to say I like Justin Lin, I like the fast and the furious movies and I like the new reboot that sounded more commercial? (skip ahead to 1:07 and replay) Apparently Logan is researching an article for Wired Magazine so hopefully sensational Star Trek vibrations are on the way.

So heres the thing: Soon Star Trek fans will have a trilogy of Star Trek JJ Abrams-verse movies. The first one, Star Trek 2009 was kind of cool. Fascinating interplay with a younger crew, Kirk, Spock, Bones and spicey hanky panky with Uhura generated a lot of interest. The bar room fist fight over who gets Uhura got Kirk busted up real good with Admiral Christopher Pike saving the day.

Star Trek into Darkness is a different animal which has less story but more roller coaster action, explosions, death and amazingly generated $467 million dollars worldwide. You may recall STID sent fans on a wild goose chase over the movies villain, rumoured to be John Harrison. Even Alice Eve rowed in on the action with denials, "No he's not Khan!!!" Remember???

Looking back the original Star Trek movies like the Wrath of Khan, the Voyage Home and First Contact have in my book real spirit with stronger character melodrama credited with saving the original franchise created by Gene Roddenberry.

The real kicker is Star Trek TWOK won 2 Saturn Awards for best actor and best direction. You'll never believe who won best actor! I nearly died laughing when I found out.

What do you say trekkers? Is Star Trek Beyonds trailer too much like its predecessor - Star Trek Into Darkness? Could this be why fans are squabbling over star Trek Beyond's Trailer 1? Which is your favorite Star Trek movie? Do you remember Alice Eve saying "No he's not Khan!" Do you want to see our Gorn challenger, William Shatner duelling in Star Trek Beyond?

Today is the A to Z Challenge Theme Reveal.

"Those of us with themes are revealing them today." 2016 marks my sixth year for Aprils A to Z blogfest. Many of you will know my Science Fiction themes vary from previous years. For this years theme I'm choosing Star Trek Monsters, Lifeforms, BEM, Tribbles or anything which moves and looks remotely alien in appearance.

Star Trek Beyonds Wildcard

This week Star Trek director Justin Lin is planning some reshoots with the 3rd instalment of the rebooted "Abramsverse" movies, Star Trek Beyond. The good news is Iranian actress Shohreh Aghdashloo is joining the ranks of Starfleet's finest but what role does she play?

Fans will remember her from Rosewater, Xmen, Last stand, 24 or House of Sand and Fog. To date she won an oscar nomination and took home an Emmy for supporting actress in 2009. So whats the expose on Shohreh? We hear you ask. Well rumor has it shes important. We don't know her name yet, but shes got a seat of power at the Federation's High Command, now that gotta count for something! Personally I love the idea of having a powerful female in charge.

Will she be snarky and fierce like Fleet Admiral Alynna_Nechayev who bossed Riker around in Star Trek TNG Chain of Command P1 or something else?  If Shohreh Aghdashloo (Characters Name Unknown) ordered the USS Enterprise NCC 1701 to obliterate the swarm of alien spacehips then Captain Kirk must be pardoned for wrecking the bloody ship again!

But does she give the order? What do you think?

Which of these "Captains orders" grabs your fancy?

1. Ahead Warp factor One or
2. Engage!!! Warp Nine!

“Star Trek Beyond,” hits movie theatres on July 22nd.

Star Trek Top Trumps Star Wars at the Oscars!

Six years on, STAR TREK is still the reigning Science Fiction champion to score big and win at the Oscars. We know now Star Wars EP VII got thrashed by Mad Max 4 despite the force being nominated half a dozen times.

Heres Ben Stiller costumed as a Na'vi hunter presenting at the 82nd Academy Awards in 2010. After slagging off Star Trek and gushing over James Cameron's Avatar, our blue friend finally scrams so Star Trek winners Mindy Hall, Barney Burman and Joel Harlow can victoriously claim their Oscars for best makeup category.

Oscar long and be prosperous.

Star Trek Beyond - Rockstar Music Tracks

Jeffrey Scott's - Battle of the Bands regales Rockstar Aficionados all the time - so having found a Science Fiction angle, I wanted to join in the "Battle of the Bands" fun.

Star Trek Beyond's teaser trailer is exploring new territory. (Alas forget Jerry Goldsmith and James Horner) Question: Is the Beastie Boy's "Sabotage" track punchy enough to shake up the entire galactic Federation of Lifeforms?

We need Star Trek as a NO1 box office smash hit but Beyond has to win over the hearts of fans first. The truth is emotional reactions are running quite high. You may remember the first time Kirk played "Sabotage" in 2009 as he drove his stepdads red corvette over a cliff.

Its time to choose 1 out of 3 songs you'd like to hear in Star Trek Beyond.

1. Sabotage by Beastie Boys

2. It's My Life by Bon Jovi

3. Womanizer by Britney Spears

Which of these 3 music tracks  is your favorite  for Star Trek Beyond?

Let us know your "song of choice" in the comments below.

Galaxy Quest - Meme Bloghop

Christine Rains, C. Lee McKenzie and Tara Tyler are hosting a Winter Bloghop which I spotted over at the writegame.blogspot.com. Its all good fun. The idea is to shake off the seasons blues by posting a fun MEME on whatever cosmically takes your fancy. All you have to do is select a favorite image (You've probably guessed that I love Science Fiction.) Now warp over to https://imgflip.com/memegenerator, upload - type in your words/quotes and publish!

I found an amusing snap from Galaxy Quest with "Sir Alexander Dane" (Alan Rickman) chatting with co-star Gwen deMarco (Sigourney Weaver) over the phone. (He's alone in his apartment, STILL wearing his latex Alien Scalp on his head.) Gwen is upset because their supreme commander "Captain Jason Nesmith" freaked out bigstyle with a fan.

Laugh Long and Prosper.

JUSTIN LIN STAR TREK BEYOND INTERVIEW

Star Trek Beyond Will Mix Things Up in Its Plot, Jumping Forward in Time! is the latest scoop to hit the trekkie sphere over at Master Herald.‎ Star Trek Beyond Won't Be A Traditional Kirk-Spock Adventure according to cinemablend. Almost everyone knows poor William Shatner is not in the movie. To keep everything on track, heres Director Justin Lin's "INSIDER VIEW" on ‘Star Trek Beyond’ Criticisms:

“We Are Trying to Be Bold and Take Risks” was Posted by Peter Sciretta over at Slashfilm recently. Heres a few quotes from J. Linn who explains why trek's trailer was mind boggling.... to be kind.

 Justin Lin Quote 1

Well, its a minute and a half, you know… And again, there were other versions that were much more traditional and I can see where maybe the hardcore fans could probably see that as, “Oh.” But with trailers you’re putting a two-hour movie into a minute and a half, and the one thing I wanted to make sure is that it hopefully represents that we are trying to be bold and take risks, whether we are successful or not, I don’t know. That was something I was excited to do and with collaborators like Simon [Pegg] and Doug [Jung], passion for the franchise will be there regardless. So however it’s presented, yeah it’s a minute and a half, and my challenge to everyone making the trailer is about saying “let’s not go off course, I’m not afraid to share — share it, I feel like we have the goods in a two-hour run and you really do get to know the characters and hopefully the journey is great. I love it and the cast did an amazing job and the crew… and the inside baseball version of the creation of this Trek was pretty condensed in how you usually make a movie of this size. And I wanted us to be bold, I wanted us to take chances and hopefully in a minute and a half we are able to convey that.

THESE ROCKS ARE NOT FAKE, WELL THATS NOT TYPICAL!

 Justin Lin Quote 2

Yeah, and I don’t know if that’s the case here. When I saw the teaser, I’m like, aw shit. You really have to put the motorcycle in there? So I get it, I get it, I get it.

 Justin Lin Quote 3 (Music)

It’s in the DNA of this canon. It was in the ’09 Trek, and we went through different iterations of the teaser and I wanted to make sure whatever here is using all the elements from the film. It’s been a part of this Kirk’s journey and so I felt it was very organic, and it will ultimately be in the finished film.

IMAGE OWNER/ CREATOR: PARAMOUNT PICTURES AND OR CBS STUDIOS

Justin Lin Quote 4 (Lin VS Pegg)

The one thing that was when I came on this [film project], I didn’t even realize how emotional my level of engagement with Trek was until the first day of preproduction when I walked into the hallway of the Enterprise and it hit me. It’s part of me but my level of engagement with Trek was really from 8 to 18, when I would watch Trek at 11 PM on channel 13 with my dad. He worked all day, closed shop at 9 PM and dinner at 10 and watched Trek. And so a lot of that is trying to create something that embraces the essence of Trek for me. Simon has a very different level of engagement, and Doug also has a very different… so it’s awesome to get in there and have those collaborators and have that discourse about how we were going to craft this movie. ‘Cause Simon, he knows EVERYTHING about Trek and it’s great to have those guys with me the whole way.

Art is the wonderful mirror of humanity..... When Chris Pine says this, Simon Pegg is seated looking at him. I have no idea how Pegg kept such a straight face but he did - right to the very end of the video - Hilarious.

Justin Lin Quote 5 (Star Trek Beyond Title)

He kind of tracked me down and we’re talking and I didn’t know what to expect. I thought maybe he was offering to go shoot a script that existed and he said, no, it’s yours. Go and be bold. And just take it. Be bold and make it what you think you would do to Star Trek. And the more we talked about it, the more we kept saying, well let’s keep pushing. Let’s keep pushing. And that’s when Simon kind of said, well it should be Star Trek Beyond. And it was his idea. And it was kind of came from all our conversations. And we looked at each other and like oh, that sounds like the title of this film.

And the interview goes on and on. All this awesomeness over one trailer, aren't we spoilt? For more Star Trek Beyond analysis, warp over on over to Slashfilm Page 2 and Slashfilm Page 3

Star Trek Beyond Newsflash

Star Trek Beyond Trailer 2 has yet to beam across the galaxy. It seems Justin Lins fast and furious motorcycles, sexy aliens and bigger explosions is taking trekland by surprise..

The Beastie Boys track "Sabotage" is just the beginning of all out war! Will Star Trek Beyond reignite the philosophical trekkie fundamentals of Gene Roddenberry's Star Trek or cause utter chaos?

After the partial rehash of Star Wars, can Star Trek follow in Han Solo's footsteps and score big at the box office? The only hitch is William Shatner isn't in the movie. Its a real pity too because all we need is the Solo ending sending Grandpa Kirk off in style.

Visualize Admiral Kirk hamming it up with a stake through the heart as hes being jettisoned out an airlock, Hammer Horror style! Is less more? Was once enough? Is Galia or Uhura the most likely candidate to kill captain Kirk?

Live long and be prosperous, trekkers and trekkies.
