JUSTIN LIN STAR TREK BEYOND INTERVIEW

Star Trek Beyond Will Mix Things Up in Its Plot, Jumping Forward in Time! is the latest scoop to hit the trekkie sphere over at Master Herald.‎ Star Trek Beyond Won't Be A Traditional Kirk-Spock Adventure according to cinemablend. Almost everyone knows poor William Shatner is not in the movie. To keep everything on track, heres Director Justin Lin's "INSIDER VIEW" on ‘Star Trek Beyond’ Criticisms:

“We Are Trying to Be Bold and Take Risks” was Posted by Peter Sciretta over at Slashfilm recently. Heres a few quotes from J. Linn who explains why trek's trailer was mind boggling.... to be kind.

 Justin Lin Quote 1

Well, its a minute and a half, you know… And again, there were other versions that were much more traditional and I can see where maybe the hardcore fans could probably see that as, “Oh.” But with trailers you’re putting a two-hour movie into a minute and a half, and the one thing I wanted to make sure is that it hopefully represents that we are trying to be bold and take risks, whether we are successful or not, I don’t know. That was something I was excited to do and with collaborators like Simon [Pegg] and Doug [Jung], passion for the franchise will be there regardless. So however it’s presented, yeah it’s a minute and a half, and my challenge to everyone making the trailer is about saying “let’s not go off course, I’m not afraid to share — share it, I feel like we have the goods in a two-hour run and you really do get to know the characters and hopefully the journey is great. I love it and the cast did an amazing job and the crew… and the inside baseball version of the creation of this Trek was pretty condensed in how you usually make a movie of this size. And I wanted us to be bold, I wanted us to take chances and hopefully in a minute and a half we are able to convey that.

THESE ROCKS ARE NOT FAKE, WELL THATS NOT TYPICAL!

 Justin Lin Quote 2

Yeah, and I don’t know if that’s the case here. When I saw the teaser, I’m like, aw shit. You really have to put the motorcycle in there? So I get it, I get it, I get it.

 Justin Lin Quote 3 (Music)

It’s in the DNA of this canon. It was in the ’09 Trek, and we went through different iterations of the teaser and I wanted to make sure whatever here is using all the elements from the film. It’s been a part of this Kirk’s journey and so I felt it was very organic, and it will ultimately be in the finished film.

IMAGE OWNER/ CREATOR: PARAMOUNT PICTURES AND OR CBS STUDIOS

Justin Lin Quote 4 (Lin VS Pegg)

The one thing that was when I came on this [film project], I didn’t even realize how emotional my level of engagement with Trek was until the first day of preproduction when I walked into the hallway of the Enterprise and it hit me. It’s part of me but my level of engagement with Trek was really from 8 to 18, when I would watch Trek at 11 PM on channel 13 with my dad. He worked all day, closed shop at 9 PM and dinner at 10 and watched Trek. And so a lot of that is trying to create something that embraces the essence of Trek for me. Simon has a very different level of engagement, and Doug also has a very different… so it’s awesome to get in there and have those collaborators and have that discourse about how we were going to craft this movie. ‘Cause Simon, he knows EVERYTHING about Trek and it’s great to have those guys with me the whole way.

Art is the wonderful mirror of humanity..... When Chris Pine says this, Simon Pegg is seated looking at him. I have no idea how Pegg kept such a straight face but he did - right to the very end of the video - Hilarious.

Justin Lin Quote 5 (Star Trek Beyond Title)

He kind of tracked me down and we’re talking and I didn’t know what to expect. I thought maybe he was offering to go shoot a script that existed and he said, no, it’s yours. Go and be bold. And just take it. Be bold and make it what you think you would do to Star Trek. And the more we talked about it, the more we kept saying, well let’s keep pushing. Let’s keep pushing. And that’s when Simon kind of said, well it should be Star Trek Beyond. And it was his idea. And it was kind of came from all our conversations. And we looked at each other and like oh, that sounds like the title of this film.

And the interview goes on and on. All this awesomeness over one trailer, aren't we spoilt? For more Star Trek Beyond analysis, warp over on over to Slashfilm Page 2 and Slashfilm Page 3

Star Trek Beyond Newsflash

Star Trek Beyond Trailer 2 has yet to beam across the galaxy. It seems Justin Lins fast and furious motorcycles, sexy aliens and bigger explosions is taking trekland by surprise..

The Beastie Boys track "Sabotage" is just the beginning of all out war! Will Star Trek Beyond reignite the philosophical trekkie fundamentals of Gene Roddenberry's Star Trek or cause utter chaos?

After the partial rehash of Star Wars, can Star Trek follow in Han Solo's footsteps and score big at the box office? The only hitch is William Shatner isn't in the movie. Its a real pity too because all we need is the Solo ending sending Grandpa Kirk off in style.

Visualize Admiral Kirk hamming it up with a stake through the heart as hes being jettisoned out an airlock, Hammer Horror style! Is less more? Was once enough? Is Galia or Uhura the most likely candidate to kill captain Kirk?

Live long and be prosperous, trekkers and trekkies.

STAR WARS THE FORCE AWAKENS

STAR WARS THE FORCE AWAKENS has grossed $1.16 billion worldwide which cost $350million to make. Its so good people are seeing it three, four times - Go see it!

The movies world premiere took place at Los Angeles on Dec 14th with a razzmatazz of invited guests, Stormtroopers, Chewy, R2D2, CP3O, J.J. Abrams, George Lucas and legions of fans swarming up to the red carpet. The films movie director J.J. Abrams even got in on the action pausing to take a selfie of himself with some fangirls.

VERDICT? I must confess, the sheer size and attention to detail is amazing. The movie is mixed with an exciting new and spectacular old feeling which has made it a hit. So big in fact, Mark Hamill is warning fans not to fall for fake autographs. Heres a great shot of Star Wars 501st Legion taken in Singapore. Look how low pitched their rifles are slung.

I guess Vaders Stormtroopers can't shoot it out with rebel factions at the opening première. Vaders advancing legion gives the Jedi a chance to break a leg and get the best front row movie seats.

Hey these guys aren't Jedi's! What happened to the good guys? Were you one of Jedi or the Sith? Did you wear your uniform? Spot any Trekkies hiding in the audience?

May the Force be with You -  Live Long and Prosper.

Star Trek Beyond's Trailer

SPOCK'S SHOULDER PATCH READS USS FRANKLIN

Star Trek Beyond's - trailer 1 is here, finally. Its showtime with the new USS Enterprise NCC 1701 crew tearing up some alien world and btw, they've gone and wrecked the bl**dy ship again!!! Earlier in the year we speculated the skunk lady (Sofia Boutella) would be contending with Star Trek's fearsome villains, WELL, we were right!

Here's Star Trek's killer gazelle fighting a Jem Hadar type alien in Star Trek Beyond. Doesn't she look great?

"This is where the frontier pushes back." Heres Idris Elba's character "Kraal" speaking from the chaos.  The dude actually looks like Satan.. (I reckon the reason Worf was so popular is because he looked real, fans liked the moving face and identified with the Klingon.) Kraal is a different alien altogether so you'll have to decide.

IDRIS ELBA IS THE VILLAINOUS KRAAL

So now we've no ship, no crew and a bewildered Captain Kirk pondering his faith having stuffed up command for a 3rd movie in a row.

Seriously, does new age Kirk know what hes doing? LOL I sure hope Kirk doesn't turn out like Captain Nesmith in Galaxy Quest. Remember him? Hilarious - which likely points at where Star Trek Beyond is going into the future -

The world première of the film kicks off Star Trek's 50th anniversary celebrations on July 22nd 2016. Is Idris Elba's Kraal on a thrill to kill spree? Is it written in the stars for the USS Enterprise NCC 1701 to turn into a blazing fireball?

Will Keenser save the day? - I sure hope so, trekkers. Live long and Prosper!

Beyond Star Trek and Star Wars

CAN YOU NAME ALL THESE STAR TREK ALIENS?

Star Trek Beyond is the third movie in JJ Abrams reboot trilogy directed by (fast and furious) Star Trek kid Justin Lin. The plot of Star Trek Beyond is still a mystery. Will we be seeing Klingons, Romulans, Vulcans or any other familiar alien races?

FIONA VROOM IS A GREEN ORION!

STAR TREK TEASERS

1. It seems the Star Trek kid is keeping stump, curse him.
2. We do know Sofia Boutella and Idris Elba are getting their alien on for the movie.
3. Fiona Vroom is playing the Green Orion Girl.
4. Joe Taslim, Lydia Wilson, Sofia Boutella, Idris Elba have Top Secret identities according to IMDB.
5. Star Trek Beyond has Twenty Five stuntmen and women.

STARSHIP USS ENTERPRISE NCC 1701

The latest news is Captain Kirk's USS Enterprise NCC 1701 is departing at the end of STID to primarily explore new worlds and civilisations.

"They (USS Enterprise NCC 1701) haven’t really gone on their five-year mission, so what we experienced in the TV show hasn’t been touched on yet. That sets up an opportunity for exploration and the deeper you go, the more you are examining humanity. Those are the things that I absorbed as a kid and hope to tap into and embrace and celebrate."

Now with the release of Star Trek's New Series in January 2017 fans want to know: Is Star Trek's New CBS Series set in Gene Roddenberry's Prime Universe or J J Abrams reboot universe? and what about Star Trek Beyond? When are we getting our first official Star Trek Beyond trailer?

LEONARD NIMOY STUNS TREKKIES

QUESTION: So which universe are you hoping for trekkie, G R Prime-verse or Abramsverse?

Which epic empire, Star Wars or Star Trek deserves to rule supreme over the entire Galactic Federation of Planets? “Star Trek,” which will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2016, is one of the most successful entertainment franchises of all time. So don't let that influence you.

What is your final say? Which movie is going to cry havoc at the Box office and let slip the dogs of war!  Live Long and prosper, Terrans.

It's officially official. Paramount Pictures, Skydance, Bad Robot and IMAX Corporation have confirmed that Star Trek Beyond will be digitally re-mastered into the immersive IMAX format and released in IMAX theaters worldwide beginning July 22, 2016.

Star Trek and Dr Whos Doctors

"You owe me something, you do realise that - don't you?"
"Not Now Doctor. Please!!!"

In 1997 Dr Who had eight doctors and so did Star Trek. Heres Treks run down: Dr Philip Boyce, Dr Mark Piper, Dr Leonard "Bones" McCoy, Dr Christine Chapel, Dr Beverly Crusher, Dr Katherine Pulaski, Dr Julian Bashir, and the EMH - Voyager's Emergency Medical Hologram. If you include the EMH on the USS Enterprise NCC 1701-E then thats nine but wait what about Dr Who's Peter Cushing and Richard Hurndall?

So which sci fi genre wins?

Given recent success with bigger and worse block buster movies and spin off TV series -  Which Sci Fi Genre, Star Trek or Dr Who has the most doctors?

Live Long and Prosper, Treknichians and Whovians!

Simon Peggs Geekspeak

Simon Pegg apologised recently for making geeky comments which I think are interesting. Oh well, I guess nobody's perfect. Whats the big deal anyway? He was only speaking his mind.

Despite his reputation as a poster boy for geeks, he told Radio Times magazine:

“Before Star Wars, the films that were box-office hits were The Godfather, Taxi Driver, Bonnie and Clyde and The French Connection – gritty, amoral art movies.

“Then suddenly the onus switched over to spectacle and everything changed … I don’t know if that is a good thing.”

Pegg, who played chief engineer Scotty in the recent Star Trek films, added:

“Obviously I’m very much a self-confessed fan of science fiction and genre cinema but part of me looks at society as it is now and just thinks we’ve been infantilised by our own taste.

“Now we’re essentially all consuming very childish things – comic books, superheroes. Adults are watching this stuff, and taking it seriously.

“It is a kind of dumbing down, in a way, because it’s taking our focus away from real-world issues. Films used to be about challenging, emotional journeys or moral questions that might make you walk away and re-evaluate how you felt about … whatever.

“Now we’re walking out of the cinema really not thinking about anything, other than the fact that the Hulk just had a fight with a robot.”

The Mission: Impossible star said he wanted to take on more dramatic roles.

“Sometimes (I) feel like I miss grown-up things,” he said. “And I honestly thought the other day that I’m gonna retire from geekdom.

I see the need to analyse... MUST A-N-A-L-Y-S-E ,,,, error error!!!! does not compute... (Sparks flying) Please! someone feel free to interpret - So much meaningful geekspeak here to analyse.... HELP!

Geek long and Prosper, bloggies, geeksters, nerdlings and trekkers. I think thats eveyone, lol.

Idris Elba - Groundbreaking Villain

Star Trek Beyond - The thirteenth movie directed by Justin Lin is currently filming in futureland - the city of tomorrow, Dubai. Wide speculation is running rife about Star Trek's new bad guy, Idris Elba. Since the news broke about "Beyonds" antagonist, The BIG QUESTION remains UNANSWERED.

BRIDGE OF USS ENTERPRISE NCC 1701

Who's the most likely villain to take out Captain Kirk's (Chris Pine) USS Enterprise NCC 1701?

Whats his name? Idris Elba knows only hes not telling!!! Earlier in the year, I reported Sofia Boutella is contending with Star Trek's fearsome villains - 007 style -  as the perfect sexy killer machine with secret moves to blow us away - hehe.

SOFIA BOUTELLA - TREKS KILLER MACHINE

So who is Star Trek's Mr Evil? and whats the beef this time round?

Heres what Simon Pegg and Idris Elba have told us so far - thanks to MTV.

SIMON PEGG: That’s not true…I heard there’s a rumor he’s [Idris Elba] been spoken to about stuff, so he may be in the film, but he won’t be a Klingon or maybe he will.

MR EVIL AND CAPTAIN KIRK

"You’ve never seen me play a character like this."

"It’s quite an interesting journey, which I think is groundbreaking for the franchise. But, it still keeps with the ’classic bad guy is a classic bad guy’ tone."

“Simon [Pegg] and the team have written a very interesting, complex journey for my character,”

"I think Star Trek has prided themselves as being quite classic when it comes to villains, like ‘he’s a guy who wants to end the world."

It seems details for Idris Elba’s mysterious role are being kept hidden somewhere on Ceti Alpha V.

Is Idris Elba cool enough to tell us who MR EVIL really is? You decide. Unless Elba spills the beans, I'm calling him Mr Evil.

Its over to you trekkers, trekkies and bloggies. Whats your best guess?
